Procrastination and fear of Liberation

Today I'll make my point by recounting a recent experience.

A person at a seminar I have been at, stood out of the crowd. He talked, he said it like he thought it was, he joked and he participated.

During the breaks he talked to the presenters and even courted a woman a bit younger than him. He definitely was not one who conforms to unwritten rules.

Sadly all the others where threatened by his manners. I must admit I was also wondering how this guy was suppose to be approached. However, I like challenging myself to do something I'm not prepared for and I approached him to start a conversation.

He was welcoming, considerate and as humble as much as misunderstood.

Then suddenly I also started expressing my unique self and as I did I also started appreciating others. I suggested we got to say hello to everyone and we managed to break the people's ice.

From this experience I learned how important it is to never procrastinate on expressing one's unique self. I was impressed at how people when meeting new persons feel so tense about taking part in an activity. It is a form of fear.

However, when we liberate ourselves from the fear of criticism we also liberate others. there is enough space for everyone to express his or her own unique beauty and for each unique beauty there are unique people capable of appreciating it.

However, we also need to encourage others to come out. All that is required by most people is a little push. Invite them to be themselves.

This brings me to the concluding point: Never procrastinate on expressing your unique self; bring out what's good and nice in you.

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate.
Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure.
It is our light not our darkness that most frightens us.
We ask ourselves, who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented and fabulous?

Actually, who are you not to be?
You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world.

There's nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you.
We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us.
It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone.

And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same.
As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.
